In my opinion, we still need heroes. Heroes are the saviours of the world in times of disasters, and they are a role model for people to learn from. Also, they can lead us into success.
Heroes are saviours of the world in times of disasters. An example will be that in the nuclear crisis that happened in Japan, many brave workers, risked their lives and went to the nuclear plant to try and stop the nuclear plant from generating more radiation by spraying water on the plant to cool the plant. By cooling the plant the rate of nuclear reaction will reduce, but this all came with a cost: the workers are suffering greatly from the impacts of radiation, as they are in extremely close proximity to the plant. Some workers even went into the nuclear plant to try and reduce the amount of radiation produced. The entire world benefited from the workers' heroic actions as the world suffered from lesser form the effects of radiation. The workers continued to help to solve the problem of this nuclear crisis, in spite of the fact that more than twenty workers were already injured. Due to their contributions, they are very well-respected and recognised. The world needs heroes to do the things that most people would not dare to do, and we also need heroes to help us in times of disaster, so that we can live a better life. As a result, we need heroes as they are the ones that will save the world when we really need them to help us.
We need heroes as they are the role models for people to learn from. An example will be that a great political leader, and one of the founders of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. Lee kuan Yew was the former prime minister of Singapore, and he spent a great amount of his life, over fifty years, contributing to Singapore. He led Singapore into a successful first world country, from the harsh conditions of the past. In the past, Singapore faced many problems like the housing crisis, where over half a million people did not have proper housing; the lack of military defence, with only fifty officers, one thousand men, and two naval vessels; a lowly skilled labour force with low literacy rate. However, now, Singapore is one of the most developed countries in Asia. One value of Lee Kuan Yew that we all should learn is serving our country. When Singaporeans see that they had such a great leader, that helped the country for most of his lives, they will show him respect and learn from him. This value of serving the country is important as we all should help our country, as it is the "root" of us, without a country, there will be no family and we all should learn to serve our country. Thus, heroes good role models for us to learn from, and we learn from them as we all know about they heroic stories, and since we know about them, it would be easier for us to learn from them. Thus, we need heroes to act as role models for us to learn from.
We need heroes to lead us into success. One example is Martin Luther King Jr, a leader in the civil rights movement. He led many people into the fight to gain equal treatment for all Americans. His fight in the civil rights movement was the cause of his death. However, even after his death, the civil rights movement continued and eventually lead to a successful end, leading to equal treatment for all Americans. Heroes have the ability to lead us into success, like the case of Martin Luther King Jr, he led the civil rights movement into s successful end, giving black people equal rights as the white people, making America a better place for all people.
From the above reasons, we still need heroes as they helped us in many areas, like leading us into success, being a role model, and save us in times of disaster. Also, heroes are still needed due to the fact that they are beneficial to the society.
In my opinion, Chia Ler did a very good job in writing this essay. Good use of ABC format with all three points clearly stated and five paragraphs properly organized. The evident of each point are very sufficient and very specific. For example, he wrote that heroes can save people when they are in danger and brave workers at the Japan nuclear plant during the nuclear crisis were such heroes. I think that this evident is very good and clear as it just happened recently and supports the point well.
ReplyDeleteAll of his three points are well established and all supported with clear evidence, also he linked back each and every point back to the main topic which shows good use of PEEL.
Thus I feel that this is a very good expository essay.

Chan Chia Ler, your essay was quite good. You used the ABC format to write your essay and the PEEL format to write your points. Some of the examples that you gave were rather good. For the first two paragraphs/points, there was no problem in the format as you included point, example, elaboration and link but for the third paragraph/point, although you gave a good example and elaboration, but I could not find your link on the example. I really like your second point as I felt that it was very true and the example you gave really supported the point of "Heroes are a role model for people to learn from".If you included the link for the third point, it would be great.
ReplyDeleteApart from a few grammatical errors, it was a well written expository essay .
