There was once a boy called Mac,
who forgot to bring his school bag.
His teacher was mad,
and gave him a slap,
and he shouted and screamed like a cat.

Learning reflections
During the past few terms, I feel that my grammer and my ability to solve comprehension questions had increased. Now, I could write better. In addition, I had found out that I could do better in tests, as compared to the class average, which is a good improvement for me. I also get more chances to speak up more due to Mr Lundberg's "Pass-the-Ball" technique.

Poem on life
Life is a wrestling match,
tough and hard.
Opponents would attack fiercely,
and you need to bear with pain.
When you are knocked down,
you bleed with pain.
But regardless of the pain,
you still need to stand up and fight again.
You still need to fight on till you win or faint,
because in life there is no backing out.
tough and hard.
Opponents would attack fiercely,
and you need to bear with pain.
When you are knocked down,
you bleed with pain.
But regardless of the pain,
you still need to stand up and fight again.
You still need to fight on till you win or faint,
because in life there is no backing out.

Poem on primary school days
When I was in primary school,
everything was fun like heaven,
stress was never felt,
but playtime always present.
The days when I am in primary school
were always filled with excitement,
we had many competitions,
which bonded us together.
When the winner won,
he was congratulated.
When the loser lost,
he was encouraged.
There were no quarrells formed,
but many friendship formed.
In the primary school days,
we were all as one,
we learned,
played and got punished together,
no one was left.
The fun and happy times in primary school,
was so good and cool,
no adults interfere,
and only fun things occur,
these memories would be with me,
and follow me through my life.
everything was fun like heaven,
stress was never felt,
but playtime always present.
The days when I am in primary school

LESSON 1: FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.
Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.
Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

1) There aresome figurative language used in this poem. These includes "grass grows soft and white" and "cool in the peppermint wind". The type of figurative language used are symbolism and metaphor. The poet chose these figurative language to describe the grass and wind near the place the sidewalk ends.
2) I like this poem because it contains many describtive words, is short and simple, but yet nice to read. This poem contains many describtive words that described the entire situation to the place the sidewalk ends. The poet uses the words in a very clever manner, as the poet uses the words to make the reader feel as if he or she was in the situation. Secondly, this poem is short. It is not like those long-winded poems that repeats and repeats and make us bored and tired. Reading this poem is relaxing and is an enjoyment. Finally, this poem is very nice to read. If you read carefully, you would "feel" the situation and this makes the poem a success.

Urbanisation Part Two
This is the second part of the more tax. two part series of posts "Urbanisation". In my group, we discussed about the potential light pollution in Thul with the building of the factory, and its effects on the people living in Thul. We think that the villagers will be angry and upset with the government for using a lot of electricity as the villagers will have to pay more tax. In addition, the villagers would be very tired due to a lack of sleep as they might not be able to sleep properly even at night because of the light pollution outside that is too much for them. Finally, the villagers will feel sad as tgey will not be able to admire the beautiful stars.

Urbanisation
Today, Mr Lundberg had a lesson with us on the effects of urbanisation. We were grouped into groups of five and then we conducted group discussion. We are being monitered by teachers and therefore the quality of our discussion increased.
In my group, we discussed that locating the fertilizer factory complex in Thul will cause soil erosion, infertile soil and plants that are poisoned due to toxic wastes. It will also result in haze and toxic release as well as acid rain, water pollution and oil spill.
There will be negative effects on both the Villagers and the Bombayities. This includes the Villagers being not able to fish and farm due to the polluted water caused by the factories. The Bombayities would also suffer from the lack of jobs, causing more beggars as they could not find a source of income, more crimes committed by people as some of them might be desperate for money when they could not find a job and needed to rob to survive. Lastly there would be overcrowding in Bombay as many villagers wolud go bombay in search for jobs as they could not farm and fish. As they were also not skilled with machines, they could not work in the factories built in their homeland, Thul, so, they are forced to go to bombay.

Interview of one of the characters in Village By The Sea(linguistic(c))
Me: Hello, Mr Hari.
Hari: Hello.
Me: I am here to interview you, so let us begin.
Hari: You can start anytime.
Me: How do you think life was in Thul?
Hari: I think life in Thul was very harsh and terrible.
Me: Why do you think so?
Hari: I had to work hard, only to find a little amount of money paid as salary. The only time I got paid resonably is when the De Silvas came and gave me a job of helping them out, like a maid.
Me: Oh I see! Are there problems happening in your family?
Hari: There are tons of problems in my family!
Me: Can you name one please?
Hari: I have an irresponsible father that do not work. He only takes our money to buy Toddy, which is useless.
Me: Oh! Is that the reason why you need to work in order to provide money for your family?
Hari: Yes it is.
Me: Ok,it is time for me to leave, I deeply appreciated and enjoyed this session with you. Thank you very much for your time.
Hari: you are welcomed

Postures that represents scenes in The Village By The Sea(kinesthetic)
This image represents the scene in which Lila bended down to offer flowers in the sea. This posture shows a girl placing a flower in the seawater. I chose this picture because the girl here looks like Lila placing flowers in the water. The sun in this picture had just risen, which means it is very early, where no one is around,as shown by the picture.
This picture represents the scene in which Lila reacted when the medicine-man arrived. This posture shows a girl waiting for someone. I chose this picture because the girl in this picture looks like she is from a poor family as she wore cheap clothes. Futhermore, the background shows some trees, but no buildings, which supports the point on she coming from a poor family.
http://www.lwvswin.org/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/sad-girl.gif
This picture represents the scene in which Lila reacted when pinto was poisoned. This posture suggests that Lila was feeling sad. I chose this picture because this girl, from her expression, tells us that she is very sad, probably due to a fact that something or someone she loved was about to die, or died.
Point of view of Hari(Intrapersonal)
Dear diary,
I am a boy from the village Thul. I have a drunkard, who is my useless father, and a very ill mother that cannot take care of herself in my family! My life is filled with misery! I need to drop out from school to provide money for my family, but I cannot even find a good job that can provide me a resonable amount of salary! I hate my life, it is a torture!!! I hate being in the stupid village Thul that brings me bad luck! I cannot even find a normal job!
I have decided to go to Bombay to work. The factories here will take more than twenty years to build, by then, I would have already starved to death! The only option is to work in Bombay. I have heard from many people that there are many jobs available in Bombay as long as one is willing to work. The pay they give there is also much more higher than here, and besides that, I heard that some people who go there, from the village Thul, returned back with plenty of money!(a sign of very very good luck!) Perhaps, I might be the next lucky person! I have thought about it, to survive, I must go to bombay!

Journal According to Patrick Maloney
Dear diary,
Tommorow shall be the most important day of my entire life.I will finally tell my lover, no, my wife that she would be leaving me.I will get a divorce. I shall regain my long lost freedom and also have a true love. That irritating wife had bothered me for many years, taking away my freedom and disgusted me.She kept on helping me on things that I could do myself, like giving me whisky. If other people know about it, they will think that a policeman could not even pour his own whisky to drink, but depended on his wife,so how could he even fight crime? Other people would laugh at me!
Did you know that she always cook for me, not because she loved me, but because she want to GAIN control of my freedom! She did not want me to leave from her sight , luckily, she did not follow me when I was working!(that is the reason for me to come home so late every day!) Its so selfish of her!Actually she is also inconsiderate. She kissed me every day, like a loving wife, but sometimes without brushing her teeth! Her mouth is so smelly! That is the punishment she gave me when I came home late.If I told other people, she would act innocent and she is such a good actor.
Although my wife is so evil and cunning, not all woman are like her.I met a woman, quite young and pretty, recently and both of us fell in love at first sight. She is so caring and thoughtful, in contrast to my wife.We decided to have a marriage after only know each other for two months as we loved each other deeply. Finally,I have found a true love!
My terrible days shall be over forever !I will be happy every day of my life with my true love!!!

The reason I ended like this
I ended the story with the tiger killing him.The reason why I ended like this is because the princess loved him so much ,so, she would not bear to part with him. If she allowed him to live, he would need to marry a woman that is not the princess, but the person she hated the most.In her point of view, she would think that her lover will not want to part with her as he loved her so much, and he too would not want to marry another person, let alone the person she hated the most. So, in order not to let her lover marry another woman, the only option is for her lover to die.
There is another problem, how could the princess bear to see her lover die and also see her lover part with her?In order to solve this problem,I wrote that the princess commited suicide quickly after her lover died, in order to "see" her lover "revive" again in the afterlife and through this method, she could be with her lover forever in the afterlife as well.
I made the ending of the story like this as I had seen many stories of chinese swordman that died like this,so,I wanted to apply this idea on a western story.I wrote like that also to show that the princess's thinking is like a young girl that needed to part with her lover and so, both of them committed suicide, same as those chines drama on swordsman.

the ending of The Lady,or The Tiger
At that moment, out came a loud roar that follows with a huge jaw of an incredibly large tiger. The tiger rushed out of the door and pinned him down. The man screamed and shouted like a woman despite being known for his bravery. The next second, the tiger ripped him apart and blood was all over the ground.
The scene was so greusome that many people closed their eyes, unable to stand the image of such a young, inoccent man being killed within seconds by a hearless creature. Some woman even vomited at the sight of blood. After about a minute, everyone leaved the amphitheatre with heavy steps except for the princess.
The princess looked at the few pieces of flesh and bones left over from her loved one's body and cried uncontrollably, covering her mouth with her hands. The princes ran towards the palace and went into her room. She stood beside the window and muttered:"Sorry, my loved one, forgive me for my selfishness.I will not let anyone have you if I cannot have you.You also can't bear to leave me right? This is the best option for both of us, now,I will be joining you now......" and she jumped down swiftly from the window and died.

If I were Mary Malony---Lamb to The Slaughter
If I were Mary Maloney, I would feel very relief after I got away from killing Patrick--my husband.Actually, I cannot stop giggling after I got away with murder, until the next day.Luckily I was a policeman's wife,so,I knew how they actually conducted investigation! However,I was still nervous when I saw the policemen coming as I pretended to be innocent! They are so foolish to get fooled by me!I think what I had done(killing my husband),is correct. In fact,I am doing a righteous act(he had other woman!!!) and he deserves to be killed! However, life without patrick seems a bit dull-----I wish he did not have an affair and I did not need to kill him.

How I learned......
I am an intrapersonal, kinaesthetic and linguistic learner.I learn best by myself or with a partner but I can still learn in groups. I like to do hands-on things like doing experiment and learn well through them.I also like new challenges as they will push me ahead.

plagarism
The first handout that my language arts teacher gave me is on plagarism.Plagarism is the illegal act of copying other people's work without giving the original person any form of credit. This action infringe copyright and the person copying the work may be fined, jailed or both.
Plagarism is common among all ages, especially among students. There are a many reasons on why they plagarise.Below are a few reasons.
1)Students are too young to know the consequences for plagarism.
2)Students think that they need to plagarise to get good grades. (Some of them think that all good ideas are already discovered.)
3)Students are influenced by their friends to think that plagarising is "the best way" of completing homework, and also the fastest way.(so they have more time to play!!!)
Personally, I think that plagarising is unfair to the original person,as someone stole his property in the form of knowledge. The original idea was formed from the person's hard work,so, how could other people use the idea without giving him credit!
